@Gojo_Honored_1 @SlyPerformer Oh that's the long held criticism of that series. Before the anime existed it was known in deep fandom circles like fanfiction, weeb groups, and redditors. Everyone agreed it was carried by artwork because it had nothing else going for it.

@he4venbent there actually were quite a few incidences of this, especially in the early days of fanfiction on the internet! very famously anne rice (author of interview with the vampire) was especially notorious for sending cease and desist and letters/trying to sue fanfic authors

the problem with those books isn’t reylo, it’s that fanfiction relies on you wanting the characters from a pre-existing context together and when you remove that context without building proper characterization, it doesn’t make sense. all published fic has this issue

The issue with transitioning from Wattpad writing to screenwriting is that you cannot write for just your favorite character. Imagine if I wrote Fatima centered fanfiction, got hired to write for #SistasOnBET, and refused to learn, respect, or write for anyone else's stories.
