Guys, a friend of mine lost her phone in a Bolt ride and I’ve been trying to contact Bolt support, with no success. I tried logging into her iCloud but because there’s no internet connection, I can’t locate it or ring it. What can I do?

@cparkin2015 @LeeAndersonMP_ It’s true. Now I have to change back to paper banking.Remove banking app. Remove all card details from sites. Download my iCloud to my lappy , disconnect from wifi. Use WhatsApp only. Grumble

@TheNorfolkLion It is only Icloud that is the problem, remove all icloud permission from your phone and it will be secure again.Icloud is the backdoor.

@datadev01 @RupertLowe10 It’s still encrypted just it can now be decrypted by Apple if they receive a court order / warrant to provide a persons iCloud data.

@darrengrimes_ WRONG. Apple has not created a back door into iPhones. It has dropped Advanced Data Protection for users of iCloud for data storage. Standard encryption is still in place and there are plenty of other options.

@RupertLowe10 I’m surprised Apple shares haven’t dropped as I cancelled my 99p per month subscription ?. Turn off iCloud and back up on a hard drive or other online provider

UK Gov killed iCloud. This is going to cause major issues syncing files across the Apple ecosystem now that, I suspect, UK users will disable iCloud across all devices. Back to NAS drives and USB sticks! #Apple #iCloud #iCloudUK

@BGatesIsaPyscho I’d like to just point out to users of apple products in the UK that this is solely an iCloud issue… this does not affect your phone itself. So if you have something to hide, stop backing up your iPhone to iCloud ?

@tomhfh why is Apple agreeing to this? From my limited understanding this is only to access the Apple icloud. So if you don’t use it, then it shouldn’t be an issue right?

@BGatesIsaPyscho And use what? Its not a phone issue, its a where you store your data issue. Ditch iCloud and use something else. All phones are just as exploitable unless you use a highly customised bespoke OS like @GrapheneOS which isn’t going to happen for most people

@Bentley9Kenny @BBCBreaking Are you joking? No such thing as “signing up to Apple security”. ADP is an optional setting in iCloud settings, it’s not a core feature of their cybersecurity system.
