Uninstalled-installed the app, then cant be installed. I tried downloading it using facebook, got download, then messenger still wont work. I tried to force stop, clear cache, restart my phone and its still now working. Stuck on waiting network. Then, I switched my gf's account that was logged in to mine, then switched back to mine then got logged out. I logged in again, now its working. Like wtf.

Ive been having the same issue with messenger for 2 days now. The app will open, but that's as far as I'll get. My chats won't load and all it says is "waiting for network". But just now, I went into my app settings and forced stopped the messenger app, then I cleared the cache and the storage as well and now it's working fine with no problem. And all my chats are loading again. So if you guys have been having the same issue, I'd try what I just did and see if it works for you. Hope this helps ☺️

I've been having issues with since yesterday. Either states Waiting on Network. Or this morning had no internet connection prompt. I've turned on Airplane mode. Cleared cashe, force stop and everything else I knew to do. Along with sending a report to Facebook. Wish they'd get their act together. Seems like it's gone and broken

Same as everyone: Messenger on webpage wants to verify "PIN", but cannot. It hangs. Also hangs when verification code sent to phone app. Problem occuring with BOTH Chrome and Edge. Messenger app on Android working normally.

Only the stand-alone desktop app for Messenger was shut down on December 15, 2025. Messaging services were moved to the Facebook website or Messenger's site for those without an account on the former. The stand-alone Messenger site will be discontinued on April 16, 2026. Messaging services will be moved to the Facebook website after that date. For those of us with Messenger via their FB sign-in, this should not be an issue. However, FB/Meta forced an update today at 10:30 a.m. EDT, and Messenger via FB is presently not working.

Stuck in a verification loop with my pin to restore chats. I have restarted my browser, opened and incognito tab, cleared cache/cookies, and even tried putting in an incorrect pin to see if that knocked it out of the loop. It does register when pins are incorrect, but when I put in the correct pin it just gets stuck on "verifying" again. On the FB website using messenger. Phone app works fine.

I haven't been able to receive messages sent to me while I am offline for several months. Today, while online, I get a "You received a message but this browser can't receive it" message. When I try to report the problem to facebook it gets a 10 minute spinning wheel like we're back in the 90s on dialup which I then discard because the world doesn't stop because facebook wants to ignore its problems.

Was just using Messenger and it suddenly logged me out. Tried a different device and the same thing happened. Tried on my phone with the same result. Now it won't let me log back in. It's stuck on the profile screen. Well - my phone lets me log in, but it logs me out right away.

Facebook Messenger "Sponsored Messages" has some "messages" claiming to be from Facebook, that freeze your browser and make it inoperable temporarily, you have to restart and do a virus check, and keep avoiding any Sponsored Messages. I think that is enough to stop the problem, hopefully

Everytime I open a chat with business page (not a regular profile), the chat blinks, I can still see all chats under, after the blink, the chat with business page is loaded, it is really annoying.

messenger has been acting weird lately like it was working perfectly fine yesterday but then around 2pm it started acting weird mostly when I try to type a message it shows some big ol gap between the message i typed and my keyboard on my device and when I send the message it shows half of it to the point I gotta scroll up in order to see the entire message even to see my friends message for some reason! Even when I turn the device it’s still doing it, I closed and reopened the app and nothing, uninstalled and reinstalled the app still nothing and even when I restart my device and open the app again STILL NOTHING! Still the same bug! It’s irritating me a lot, like it works fine on my phone but my iPad which is still pretty brand new the app is still messing up, yet this glitch isn’t happening on any other app at all only messenger, i seriously hope they fix it and make the app go back to normal.

It closes as soon as you try to open it!! It's been like that since yesterday and there was a Facebook app update before that and that's probably why it's not working now!! I can't log into my messenger or facebook. Keeps sending "session expired please log in" or sending codes to confirm identity that never come.
